The Role:

The incumbent is responsible for contributing to the overall dining experience of guests at our various venues, by assisting the Manager and wait staff with welcoming and seating guests.


The incumbent is responsible for:

  • Ensuring accurate knowledge of daily scheduled events, parties or daily specials
  • Checking reservation book to ensure floor plan accommodates all reservations within an appropriate time span
  • Checking messages for the day and update reservations as necessary
  • Making a seating plan for the evening to use as a reference when seating guests
  • Working with Manager to assign server sections, keeping distribution of tables fair and equitable
  • Maintaining a safe working environment for guests and employees adhering to established company procedures and industry regulations
  • Greeting guests in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Checking in guests in the reservation book, escorting them to their table and distributing menus and wine list (distribute menus from the LEFT, starting with the eldest woman and moving clockwise and end with the host and set the wine list in front of the Host)
  • Ensuring each guest has a complete place setting
  • Answering the telephone and periodically check the bathroom and premises for any unsightly messes or hazards that need to be addressed
  • Ensuring all reservations are in for the evening
  • Bidding farewell to guests when possible and making sure they had a pleasant experience (if there are any complaints, report to the Manager)
  • Going through all menus (bar & Lunch included): wiping down covers, checking pages for stains, crumbs, etc., removing and replacing soiled pages
  • Periodically checking the chalkboards to make sure information is up-to-date; removing them at the end of the evening
  • Contributing to the success of the team by supporting the companys vision, mission values for success and goals and objectives
  • Assisting fellow co-workers whenever possible
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and great communication skills
  • Must possess a friendly, courteous attitude and professional appearance
  • Serve Safe Certificate
  • Education and/or Experience:

  • Prior experience in an upscale restaurant or hotel preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Language Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, crouch and reach
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Visual acuity and ability to hear to clearly communicate with managers, coworkers and guests
